NBA -- Wizards hand Knicks more misery
By Joan Secuya-Medida PhilBoxing.com Fri, 26 Dec 2014

SAN FRANCISCO -- The Washington Wizards added another wrinkle to the New York Knicks' vastly disappointing 2014-15 NBA season.
John Wall tallied 24 points and 11 dimes and Bradley Beal added 17 more and the visiting Wizards whipped the plummeting Knicks, 102-91, at the Madison Square Garden.
Carmelo Anthony registered 34 points on 13-for-28 shooting but his effort couldn't save the Knicks from losing their sixth in a row. The latest beating also dropped the Knicks to a mediocre 3-13 in their own building.
Jose Calderon finished with 16 and Cole Aldrich had 10 and four boards, but the Knicks shot just 45 percent from the field (36-of-80) and they missed 18 of their 22 attempts above the 3-point arc.
The Wizards wasted no time putting away the Knicks. They raced to 34-23 lead after one quarter and increased that bubble to 60-44 at the halftime break. Washington made 44 of 86 field goals (51.2 percent) and 7-of-16 triples.
Although their guard play was terrific, Washington's bigs had significant contributions as well. Nene had 12 points while Marcin Gortat added 10 and nine rebounds.
Washington improved to 20-8, third place in the Eastern Conference while the Knicks dropped to 5-26, second to last in the East. (JSM)
