NBA -- J-Wall leads Wiz past Celtics in double OT By Homer D. Sayson PhilBoxing.com Wed, 10 Dec 2014 ![]() CHICAGO -- A heartbroken John Wall scored 26 points and dished 17 assists to lead the Washington Wizards to a thrilling 133-132 double-overtime victory over the Boston Celtics on Monday night at the Verizon Center. Prior to the game, Wall received a text message that his 6-year old friend Miyah Telamauque-Nelson, had passed away. Although obviously despondent, fashioned out one of his best performances. "This is for Miyah, one of my close friends that I lost. It's just tough man. To see a little kid fight so hard for cancer and can't beat it, this game's for her," said Wall, who played 44 minutes and made 10 of 17 field goals. After taking a 77-57 lead with 6:02 left in the third quarter, the Wizards looked headed for an easy win, but the Celtics exploded for 34 fourth quarter points to pull even at 110-110 and force overtime after a clutch 3 by Boston shooting guard Evan Turner. Turner's heroics, however, fell for naught as Washington got it done in the second OT, outscoring Boston, 12-11. Paul Pierce finished with a team high 28 points for the Wizards, who improved to 14-6 and third place overall in the Eastern Conference. Marcin Gortat finished with 21 points and 12 rebounds while Kris Humphries had 17 points and nine rebounds. Bradlet Beal contributed a quiet 14 points, missing nine of 14 shots. Washington made 52.1 percent of their shots (49 of 84 field goals) while Boston settled for just 47 of 102, including a 9 for 22 fare from 3-point range. The Celtics fell to 7-12.
