FILIPINOS IN AMERICA PARTY DURING PACQUIAO'S FIGHT

PhilBoxing.com

Across the United States, from New York to California, Filipino Americans are having a party, no scratch that, are having a fiesta while watching the pride of the Philippines, boxing?s only eight division champion and future first ballot boxing Hall of Famer, Manny ?Fighting Congressman? Pacquaio demolish an overmatched but big hearted Long Island NY native pretty faced Christopher Algieri.

It is well known that in the Philippines, everything comes into a halt whenever Manny Pacquiao fights. Even the rebels and the government forces stop fighting. Even the criminals take a break from menacing the streets of Manila to watch the fight.

But Fil-Ams and I am sure Filipinos all over the world congregate in someone?s house, invited or otherwise, not only to watch the always entertaining all action Manny Pacquiao but also to socialize and enjoy one another?s company.

And yes, every Pacquaio fight party is a virtual fiesta, with everyone bringing something to share.

And here in St. Charles, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis is no different. There is a large group of Pinoys enjoying every jab, every right cross, every straight left and every devastating body blows Pacquiao lands on the hapless but game Algieri. The cheering and the screaming are so loud that the hosts are worried they may not be able to look their neighbors in the eye come Sunday morning.

There is so much people, the Fire Department may show up and disperse the crowd. But the party goes on.

The only thing that seemed to quiet the boisterous crowd and replaced by a collective gasp is whenever an errant swing by the hardworking but befuddled New Yorker finds it mark.

But the revitalized, faster, stronger and evidently inspired Manny Pacquiao of old gave plenty of actions to keep this community of Filipinos in St. Louis high fiving and fist pumping all night.

Our gracious host, Perla Mayfield is so excited by Pacquiao?s very convincing win, one of the greatest boxer of all time, that I don?t? think it has dawned on her yet that she has a lot of cleaning to do after all her friends leave tonight.

What is next for Emmanuel Dapidran Pacquaio?

Is it Floyd Mayweather Jr? Unfortunately, I doubt it.

Had Manny struggled against the young Algieri, maybe Money would consider fighting Manny. But with an overwhelming win, all of us, boxing fans, can kiss the Fight of the Century goodbye.

Never say never. Unfortunately there could be a better chance to see snow in Manila than to see Money fighting Manny.
