PhilBoxing.com

Atlantic City, NJ - Before the much anticipated championship showdown between Bernard "The Alien" Hopkins and Sergey "The Krusher" Kovalev at the historic Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, a seven-fight undercard took place in front of excited boxing fans who trooped to this casino-laden city by the sea in southern New Jersey.

Here are the results of the fights:

Martin TKO's Gonzales

In the opener, unbeaten Junior Welterweight prospect, Ryan Martin of Chattanooga, TN improved to 9 - 0 when he stopped Isais Gonzales (17-4) of Tucson, AZ in the 2nd round of a scheduled 4 rounder.

Martin dropped Gonzales in the 1st round with a body shot and followed it up for good in the succeeding round with another body shot that ended the night for his foe. It was the 5th knockout of his young career.

Sirotkin decisions Mitchell

Before his countryman fights in the main event , Andrey Sirotkin scored the first win for Russia with a six round Unanimous Decision win over Michael Mitchell ( 3-5-2) of Paterson, NJ.
The Russian dropped Mitchell in the 4th and cruised to a 60-53 and 59-54 (twice) nod in the cards at ringside. Sirotkin is now 5-0.

Barrera submits Bryant

Another unbeaten prospect, Light Heavyweight, Sullivan Barrera of Miami FL scored a win at the Boardwalk Hall via stoppage.
Barrera dropped Rowland Bryant (18-4) of Altamonte, Springs FL in Round 2 and battered him into submission in the next 2 rounds.
Bryant did not answer the bell in the 5th, granting the win to Barrera.
Barrera improved to 14-0 and 9 KOs.

Hunter stops Bryant

Eric Hunter of Philadelphia halted Daniel Ramirez (11-2) of Los Angeles in an animated bout between two Junior Lightweights.
Hunter rocked Ramirez with hard hooks in the head in the 6th and Referee Sparkle Lee stopped the fight at the 1:23 mark after seeing Ramirez take plenty of hard hits in his head.
Ramirez protested the stoppage to no avail and Hunter improved to 19-3 with 9 KOs against a younger opponent with a better record than his.

Glazkov TKO's Wilson

Ukrainian Heavyweight Vyacheslav Glazkov scored a TKO win over veteran fighter Darnell Wilson (25-18-3) after seven full rounds in the 5th bout of the evening in this resort city.
Glazkov still undefeated in 19 bouts (1 draw), dominated the older Wilson from the opening bell until the referee stopped the fight in favor of Glazkov.

Mohammedi KO's Walker in 1

Nadjib Mohammedi of France knocked out Demetrius Walker (7-8-2) of Kansas City MO in one round to preserved his status as the International Boxing Federation's (IBF) number one contender at Light Heavyweight.

Mohammedi, who is the IBF's mandatory challenger to Bernard Hopkins, dropped Walker twice in the 1st en route to his 37th victory and knockout number 22.
The overmatched Walker was counted out after the second knockdown and was unable to recover to continue the fight.

Shabransky TKO's Gonzales

Vyacheslav Shabranksy won via TKO over Emil Gonzales (11-9-1) of San Juan, Puerto Rico in two rounds of a scheduled 10 round bout between Light Heavyweights.

Shabranksy pummeled Gonzales in the first six minutes of their bout, reddening and bruising Gonzales' face with heavy punches.
At the end of the 2nd, ring officials ended the bout after an assessment of Gonzales who was deemed unfit to continue to fight.
Shabranksy, originally of Ukraine, improved to 11-0 with 9 KOs.
