ALGIERI: ?I PLAN TO BECOME CHAMPION FOR A LONG TIME?
By Dong Secuya PhilBoxing.com Fri, 31 Oct 2014

LAS VEGAS ? WBO junior welterweight world champion Chris Algieri, who will challenge 8-division title holder Manny Pacquiao's WBO welterweight belt on November 23 in Macau (Nov 22 in the US), declared that he plans to become world champion for a long time during the WBO Convention at the Ceasars Palace Hotel Wednesday where he was awarded a Special Recognition Award for his community service.
Algieri, who captured the 140 lb title from Ruslan Provodnikov last June 14 in New York and basking in the limelight ahead of his fight with Pacquiao, may see his reign come to an abrupt end if he loses to Pacquiao in their 147 lb championship bout. According the WBO President Francisco 'Paco' Valcarcel, Algieri will also lose his Junior Welterweight title in the event he loses to Pacquiao as the 140 lb belt will be declared vacant.
But the undefeated Algieri (20-0-0, 8KO), who is currently training at The Palazzo in Las Vegas before leaving for China on Nov. 13, is supremely confident he will beat the Filipino boxing legend where his camp also declared that they will stop Pacquiao inside the distance.
