ROACH: SOLIS WILL GO DOWN IN THE 9TH ROUND By Dong Secuya PhilBoxing.com Wed, 11 Apr 2007  Celebrated trainer Freddie Roach has predicted that Jorge Solis will go no further than the 9th round in his match against Manny Pacquiao this Saturday (Sunday morning in Manila) at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Speaking from his camp in Puerto Rico where he is currently training boxing's Golden Boy Oscar de la Hoya along with Filipino contenders Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista and AJ Banal pepare for their much awaited matches on boxing's biggest event in decades the De la Hoya-Mayweather "The World Awaits" on May 5 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Roach has told PhilBoxing.com in an interview that with the way Solis fights, Pacquiao will dismantle him in round 9. Roach also confirmed that he'll be in the corner of Manny Pacquiao this Saturday and said he was in constant contact with Justin Fortune and Manny Pacquiao monitoring and giving instructions on Pacquiao's training. "Manny is in good shape and he will take care of business," Roach said. Meahwhile Filipino ring icon Manny Pacquiao has returned to San Antonio in Texas, a place for his greatest conquest in boxing when, fighting as an unknown on Nov. 15, 2003 at the Alamodome, he shocked the entire boxing world with a complete demolition win over Mexican legend Marco Antonio Barrera. Pacquiao, now an established superstar and touted as boxing's most exciting fighter, will be back in action at the Alamodome this Saturday against undefeated and unheralded Mexican Jorge Solis. Pacquiao worked out at the jampacked Jesse James Leija gym yesterday and as usual signed autographs to adoring fans after the workout.
