NBA -- Bulls sting Hornets to win fourth straight preseason game
By Kelly Manalo PhilBoxing.com Tue, 21 Oct 2014

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Bulls pocketed their fourth straight preseason win Sunday night at the United Center by beating the Charlotte Hornets, 101-96.
The Bulls, who improved to 4-2 in exhibition play, got a huge boost from the bench, thanks largely to Kirk Hinrich who pitched in 26 points on 11 of 14 from the field.
Hinrich played significant minutes after starting guard Jimmy Butler went down with a sprained thumb while attempting to steal a pass. The mishap occurred towards the end of the first quarter and he will be further evaluated on Monday.
Derrick Rose, who finished with 17 points, played his first fourth quarter minutes of the preseason and the former MVP looked comfortable, hitting big baskets down the stretch after the Hornets threatened to steal one at the United Center.
?The only way he is going to shake off the rust is to play,? Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau said during his post-game press conference. .
The Hornets fought hard after trailing by as many as 18, but they fell short despite having six players scoring in double figures.
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Lance Stephenson led Charlotte with 14 points each.
Chicago will travel to Columbus, Ohio tomorrow to face LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Bulls wrap up preseason play on Friday against the Minnesota Timberwolves in St. Louis. They open the 2014-15 regular season against the Knicks at the Madison Square Garden in New York on October 29.
