CASIMERO'S MANDATORY DEFENSE AGAINST LUIS RIOS WILL GO TO IBF PURSE BIDDING

The defense of Filipino world champion John Riel Casimero (right) against mandatory challenger Luis "Pan Blanco" R?os of Panama will be decided in a purse bid that will take place on January 2 @ the IBF head office in Springfield, New Jersey, informed today Lindsey E. Tucker, IBF Championships Chairman.

The bidding has been ordered by the IBF since the period for negotiations ended without any outcome, forcing the Pinoy's defense to be decided by the bidding process.

"The International Boxing Federation (IBF) called for a Purse Bid because we gave Johnriel Casimero and Luis Rios 30 days to negotiate. They were not able to reach an agreement so we called for the Purse Bid on January 2, 2012 in the IBF Office in Springfield, New Jersey. Bids will be opened at 12 noon," said Mr. Lindsey Tucker.

The promotion company of challenger Luis Rios, Promociones y Eventos del Istmo, has informed that it will submit its purse bid in New Jersey on the said date and time.

Light Flyweight (108 lbs) World champion Johnriel Casimero (17-2, 10KO's) of Ormoc, Philippines, is required by the IBF to defend title against mandatory challenger Luis Alberto "Pan Blanco" R?os (18-1-1, 13KO's) of Panama.

Casimero's last defense was a razor thin split decision win in August 2012.

Meanwhile, challenger Luis R?os won the IBF eliminator to fight for the world title by scoring a crushing round 11 knock out over world-rated Felipe Salguero of Toluca, M?xico, last October at the Roberto Duran Arena in Panama.

Both, Casimero and R?os were born in February of 1990, both are now 22 years of age.
