Owing to the shift in global trends, the Games and Amusements Board unanimously voted at yesterday's regular board meeting dated February 09, 2006 the conduct of women professional boxing in the Philippines.

The sound approval of the GAB Board under the able leadership of Chairman Eric R.Buhain came into being as a response to the call of the international boxing community to develop and promote future female figh ts here in the country. This was a major sign that would someday allow our aspiring female boxers to become world champions in the near future.

The GAB through yours truly, the newly appointed Commissioner to the Philippines by the Florida-based Women's International Boxing Association (WIBA) and as its Officer for their Asian arm, the WABA, ammended article 75 section A of the GAB professional boxing rules in the Philippines barring female promotions before.

Buhain and Commissioner Angel P. Bautista, another Board Member of the GAB also issued their manifestation of support and unequivocal commitments for the bright future awaiting our female fighters inside the ring. A resolution of commendation also was penned by this Board congratulating their colleague, Commissioner Paglumotan for this international appointment signed by Mr.Ryan Wissow of Florida ,USA who is the WIBA President and founder sin ce 2001.

Buhain happily stated, "This is historic and significant on the part of the GAB under this Board to open the floodgate for a new era in the development of our future world women boxing champions."

The Chairman is trying to project this new policy program of the agency as a tool for intensifying the national government's agenda for professional sports development. We have to, if we are to achieve global recognition.

"Let us continue to build future Filipino champions," Commissioner Bautista relates at the Board meeting after approving the resolution paving the way for the start of women's professional boxing in the country.

We are expecting numerous meetings with the promoters and managers of boxing community here to further enrich future female boxing promotions in the Philippines. I heard from sour ces that the ALA promotions in Cebu managed by the indefatigable Antonio Aldeguer is very much interested to do female promotions in the near future. Well, on the part of the GAB, we have already put up all the mechanism just for that purpose. Hoping for your full support and cooperation.
