In Dramatic Intense Combat, Servania Defeats Pazos in Pinoy Pride XV (PHOTOS) PhilBoxing.com Sun, 19 Aug 2012  Servania reaffirmed his class in Pinoy Pride XV. If his last round knock out triumph over veteran Genaro "Poblanito" Garcia last June was intense, Servania's unanimous decision victory over the brave Mexican warrior Jorge "El Feroz" Pazos was no less dramatic as the 21 year-old Filipino super bantamweight has been acquiring a flair for thrilling wins. In addition, Servania's twelve brutal rounds with the tough Jorge Pazos (20-4, 13KO's), showcased "Azukal's" huge improvement in technique as well focus, timing and power. Even though Genesis did not knock out Pazos, he forced the Mexican to the canvas a couple of times the hard way, both with body shots as well as with crushing hooks to the head that rocked the Sinaloan fighter. Fans exited the Waterfront Hotel wondering how was possible that Pazos did not stay down during any of those agonizing falls. The images in this article show the violence of the action: Pazos's face bruised black and blue, bleeding and in pain and his grounded mid section could not have been punished more as the Bacolod's boxer's blows by far carried more explosive power than the ones thrown by the Mexican. But Servania's low knock out percentage of just 31%, only six stoppages in 19 fights, could be deceiving. In contrast, Pazos entered the ring with a 57% knock out ratio. This proves that numbers in boxing sometimes could be misleading as it was Servania's hands that were doing the damage. Amigos, the reality is that nowadays Genesis can hit hard and fast or we may ask Pazos or Garcia. At the same time, Servania (19-0, 6KO's) appears much more confident and natural in the ring. He takes the initiative in the attacks and looks at ease during combat, he throws punches with a target on sight, overall he is more complete and dangerous, a testament that he has found a home in in the sport of boxing and he enjoys learning the craft. His triumph over the experienced good fighter Genaro Garcia must have given him much confidence, which is perfectly fine. But careful with over-confidence. Or surprise could happen. Over-confidence could have been one of the reasons for which Lobito Montoya got massacred by Jason Pagara in the same Pinoy Pride XV. Montoya was sure to the bones that he'd bit Pagara again. Insted, it was Pagara who knocked out Montoya. Over-confidence can be lethal enemy. Also, the effective work of Servania's trainers must be commended, especially the one teaching Servania how to deliver those lethal hands of stone to the body of his opponents. In fact, those well-placed fists to the abdomen of the tough Pazos paved the way for this important Servania's win that made him the new WBO Asia Pacific super bantam champ. Indeed, body shots have proven a good weapon for Servania as well as for other of his ALA stablemates. For example, in his last outing, Milan Melindo threw damaging body shots that speedily destroyed ex champ Jesus Geles in less than three minutes in Manila last June. In addition, accurate blows to the mid section were the ones used tonight by Jason Pagara to knock down "The Mexican Wolf" Rosbel Montoya during the action of round one. Those well placed bombs drained the stamina of Montoya who could never recuperate from the terrible damage inflicted on his energy reserves. Body shots are like putting money in the bank. They can pay good dividends later and we saw it. When Pagara later on seemed to be tiring a bit, Montoya did not have the power to capitalize on the big opportunity as he had no stamina left on his tank. A round later it was the Wolf who went down, again due to body shots. Pinoy Pride XV was a great night for Servania. So fans look forward to his next fight. If his next combat would be just one third as intense as his last two combats, fans will be more than satisfied. As for the Mexicans who took part in Pinoy Pride XV, they all fought well and showed big heart, guts and honor. The whole Mexico Team did give a great show, as they promised during the presscons. The visiting Mexicans did not quit on their stool despite being grounded round after round with severe punishment. They did the best they could.
