JETHER "The General" Oliva of General Santos City won again another title after scoring a unanimous decision against Jimmy Gobel of Indonesia in their title-fight for the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF)International flyweight title Saturday in Glan, Sarangani Province.

Judges Sabas Ponpon Jr. and Alberto Heramil both scored it 99-90 while Davao-based judge Romeo Fordaliza saw it 98-91 all in favor of Oliva.

The 32-year old Gobel was already disqualified to win the title after failing to make the weight limit during the weigh-in last Friday.

Oliva, 27, a former PBF light flyweight champion, improved his record to 22 wins with 10 knockouts, 2 losses and 2 draws while Gobel suffered his 26th defeat against 18 wins and 5 draws.

Oliva also previously won the WBF International light flyweight crown via a majority decision over Wilber Andogan last May 24 at the Lagao gym in General Santos City.

But that was after Oliva lost to Moruti Mthalane by a split decision in their IBO world flyweight championship held March 5 in South Africa.

Kennedy Demecillo knocked out Nicong Calamba in 2:32 of the 2nd round while Michael Enriquez kayoed Rez Padrogane in 2:01 of the 4th round.

Jessie Suacasa pummelled to submission Cidie Noblefranca via TKO in 2:55 of the 3rd round in the curtain raiser.

Michael Javier won by a split decision over Jose Aballe and Mark Angelo Plana beat Clavilaz Omayao by a unanimous decision.

A boxer-manager orientation seminar requested by promoter Dexter Tan of Sanman Promotions was conducted before the fight night by the Games and Amusements Board (GAB).

It was conducted by GAB Davao office OIC Jimmy Mata, who was assisted by Kenneth Improso. - LITO DELOS REYES
