CHICAGO, IL. -- The Chicago Bulls took on the Boston Celtics for the second day in a row and came away with another win Monday night, 94-80, at the United Center.
After D.J. Augustin torched the Celtics for 33 points in the Bulls' 107-102 win at the TD Garden in Boston on Sunday, it was Mike Dunleavy's turn to shine.
Dunleavy made 7-of-12 field goals for 22 points to lead the charge. All-Star center Joakim Noah added 19 with 11 rebounds while Jimmy Butler registered 18.
The Bulls opened the first quarter with an 8-point lead, but the Celtics caught up and took a 9-point lead with 4:33 left in the first half. But with an 11-4 run, the Bulls pulled back to within two and trailed only 50-48 at the halftime break.
The third quarter was a constant battle with seven lead changes before the Bulls regained the advantage, 71-70. The Bulls then made a 13-0 run to start the fourth quarter, extending their lead to 14 and holding off Boston the rest of the way..
Brandon Bass and Jerryd Bayless each had 18 points to pace the Celtics while Kris Humphries had 9. Boston played without All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo, who gets rested on back-to-back games. Rondo is just coming back from an ACL injury.
Chicago, which clinched a playoffs berth, improved to 42-32 and battling with the Toronto Raptors for the third seed in the Eastern Conference. The Bulls' next assignment is a road trip in Atlanta to face the Hawks.(KB)
