NBA -- Gibson' 23 helps Bulls even series with Indy

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Bulls got back at the Indiana Pacers, who beat them, 91-79, Friday night in Indianapolis.

In Monday night's rematch at the United Center, the Bulls emerged victorious, 89-77, thanks mainly to Taj Gibson's game-high 23 points and Kirk Hinrick's 18 on 7-for-13 shooting.

Center Joakim Noah had another fine effort for the Bulls with 10 points, eight rebounds, eight assists, four steals and three blocks. Mike Dunleavy added 13 and Carlos Boozer tallied nine markers and 10 boards as the Bulls improved to 40-31.

Both teams are now 2-2 for this regular season. They are poised to meet in the second round of the playoffs which begins on April 19.

As expected, the Bulls defense was stifling and held to Pacers to just 27 of 73 from the field and 4-for-10 from 3-point range. The Bulls also out-rebounded the Pacers 46-42 and they had more assists, 22-11.

Paul George had 21 points for Indy, but the star 2-guard made only eight of 22 shots. George Hill finished with 17 while 7-fot-2 center Roy Hibbert was held to 3 points.

Despite the loss, the Pacers still lead the Eastern Conference with a 51-20 slate (JR)
