OAKLAND -- The Golden State Warriors made short work of the Sacramento Kings Saturday night and scored an easy 98-87 victory at the Oracle Arena.
The Warriors led by ten after 12 minutes of play before expanding the advantage by 20 at halftime. Golden State kept pedal to metal in the second half and led 79-59 after three quarters.
David Lee and Steph Curry each had double-doubles for the Warriors with Lee notching 15 points and 12 rebounds while Curry had 22 points and 12 assists. Klay Thompson finished with 27 on 10-for-17 shooting while newly-acquired Andre Iguodala had a quiet five points.
"I thought we did an outstanding job of being aggressive and taking their home run hitters out of the equation," Warriors head coach Mark Jackson told reporters after the game.
The Warriors forced Kings center Demarcus cousins into three early fouls. He played just 18 minutes and scored eight points on 3-for-8 shooting.
Although a great win, which bumped their record to 2-1, the Warriors are still hoping for Iguodala, a prized free agent acquisition during the summer, to find his game. Iguodala finished the game with five points and five rebounds. (LA)
