YORDAN BECOMES FIRST INDONESIAN TO WIN TWO DIVISION TITLES

Daud Cino Yordan became the first Indonesian fighter to win two world titles when he overcame Argentina?s Daniel Brizuela to win the IBO lightweight title in Perth Western Australia Saturday night.

Yordan, the former featherweight champion, moved up two divisions in his quest and succeeded although it turned out to be more difficult in the second half of the fight compared to the first when the Indonesian controlled the action.

Yordan was in control in the first half of the fight with his ability to cut off the ring and work to the body looking like he was headed for a shutout win. But, Brizuela, who had made a 32 hour journey to Perth decided to go after Yordan.

Brizuela?s aggressive stance won his rounds 7, 8 and 9 even as he opened up a nasty cut over Yordan?s right eye.

In the end t Yordan, who looked much more comfortable at the heavier weight, handled the fight back of Brizuela to earn the nod of all three judges by margins of 117-111, 115-113 and 116-112.

Yordan had previously won the vacant IBO featherweight title with a 2nd round knockout of Filipino Lorenzo Villanueva at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore on May 5 last year.
