BROOKLYN -- Playing disciplined, efficient basketball, the Atlanta Hawks raised their win-streak to three games Sunday afternoon following a convincing 105-93 road victory over the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center.
Power forward Josh Smith and center Al Horford had a terrific night and made 20 of their 35 field goals. They ended up with a combined 43 points, 18 rebounds and seven assists as the Hawks converted 52.4 percent of their shots, including 8-of-21 from above the three-point arc.
Dahntay Jones, who got into a bit of controversy last week for causing the play that sprained Kobe Bryant's ankle, added 13 for Atlanta while Hawks point guard Jeff Teague ran the offense superbly with 11 points and 15 assists.
After a close 24-21 opening quarter, the Hawks used a 30-point second quarter burst to establish some momentum, and after a tight third period, Atlanta pulled away for good with a 34-20 run in the final stanza. With the victory, the 37-29 Hawks not only evened their season series with Brooklyn at 2-2, they also inched a game closer behind the 38-28 Nets for the No.4 slot in the Eastern Conference.
Deron Williams and Joe Johson had 18 points apiece for Brooklyn while big man Brook Lopez chipped in 17 and six rebounds. Reggie Evans had a spectacular effort, 14 points and 22 rebounds, but the Nets couldn't get anything going on offense, making only 36 of their 86 field goals, a low 41.9 percent clip.
