JUAN CARLOS BURGOS BEATS LUIS CRUZ BY MAJORITY DECISION

Juan Carlos Burgos (28-1-0, 19KOs) of Tijuana, Mexico dealt Luis Cruz (19-1-0, 15KOs) of Las Piedras, Puerto Rico his first loss to win the WBO/NABO super featherweight title. The scores were 98-92, 97-93 and 95-95 in favor of Burgos. Burgos, whose only loss was against Hosumi Hasegawa last year, threw more power punches, 327 to 245 connecting 112 to Cruz's 84 that basically tilted the contest in his favor based on the Compubox stats.
