TAKAYAMA INJURED, PULLS OUT OF SATURDAY FIGHT

CEBU CITY -- Former two-time world champion Katsunari Takayama of Japan, now fighting under the ALA Promotions banner, has pulled out of his fight this Saturday in Mandaue, Cebu against Jayson Rotoni due to an injury.

In a text message, ALA Promotions PR man Chad Canares has informed that "Takayama who was jogging and doing his final road work for his fight, tried to avoid an incoming vehicle and accidentally slipped injuring his right wrist" in the process.

Takayama (23-4-0 9KO), who is rated No. 11 by IBF has been scheduled to face South Africa's Tshepo Lefele (17-3-0, 11KO) in an eliminator for the vacant No. 1 slot sometime in August, was to have used Saturday's bout against Rotoni as a tune up.

According to Canares, the May 22 event dubbed as 'Best of Boxing 1' will still push thru. Hard hitting and crowd favorite Larry 'Bon Jovi' Canillas will most likely take over the main event against Dexter Mendoza.
