DELADA CONFIDENT OF BEATING MONTILLA

Philippine no. 2 lightweight Dexter "Dinamita" Delada yesterday announced that he is in prime shape, and exhorted RP lightweight champ Fernando Montilla to come armed and dangerous when their paths cross on October 29 in the 12-round mainer for the "Fight for Love" card at the San Andres Civic and Sports Auditorium.

"I would like to ask Fernando Montilla to be ready when I lay my hands on him, because I'm sure I'd be ready when he starts doing his business," said Delada yesterday when visited by a television crew from Manila, who flew in to take footages of his training at the Flores Gym in Mandaue City.

Brix Flores, who trains the Camiguin-born Delada (14-1, 10 KO's), also revealed that they are targetting some 110 rounds of sparring session for his ward before the big fight, although he refused to divulge the strategies they plan to use against Montilla (30-19-3, 21 KO's), a perennial sparring partner of superstar Manny Pacquiao.

Dexter Delada (in red shirt) and Delada's trainer Brix Flores (2nd from right) were interviewed by PhilBoxing.com's Salven Lagumbay together with the NBN crew at the scenic 2nd Mandaue-Mactan bridge.

The 23-year-old Delada yesterday looked superbly conditioned as he sparred against Romeo Buhawi at the Flores Gym for two rounds, then banged the heavy bags to the delight of the television crew.

"This is the big moment I've been waiting for. My townmates in Camiguin are all waiting for my fight. And I'm happy they will see it live on October 29 at 9:30 PM over NBN," he stated.
