Beijing, China ? After the Philippine boxing delegation bagged three bronzes from the inaugural China Open of Boxing in Guiyang, the team (or part of the team members) proceeded to Beijing, the heart of the world's fastest growing nation in the ring, for a short-term training camp.
The Beijing Boxing Association, which helped to bring this conception of cross-cultural communication in boxing come to fruition, confirmed the act.
"They have arrived in Beijing for days," a deputy secretary-general of the Beijing Boxing Association confided to this journalist today. "There'll be a friendly match between our local boxers and those Filipino fighters at the Beijing Shichahai Sports School this weekend."
The RP pugilists and 19 other Pinoy boxing athletes were expected to come, but the precise roster is yet to be verified.
Follow-up reports in regard to Team Philippines' friendly visit to Beijing will come soon, exclusively on PhilBoxing.com.
