Nonito Donaire Sr, rather than celebrate with Marvin Sonsona after the young phenom's great victory last Friday in Canada, jumped on a plane to work with his next project, future boxing champion hopeful Ana Julaton.
By the time he arrived at SFO airport he went straight to the gym and started the fine tuning of his next boxing protege to learn the Donaire system of fighting. Should Ana score the upset this Saturday Sept 12th at the HP Pavillion againts veteran 3 time World Champion Kelsey Jeffries (41 wins 9 losses 1 draw), it would start to pose the question "Is Nonito Donaire to boxing what Phil Jackson is to basketball? Is the Donaire system of fighting much like the triangle offense?"
Ana Julaton, who was introduced to this system in 2007 for her pro debut, has been hard at work to understand it's full capabilities since April of this year. In July, Nonito Donaire Sr. came in from the Philippines and worked with Julaton for over 3 weeks for her to better understand the potential of this boxing system. In her recent TFC interview Ana Julaton talks about her relationship with Donaire Sr and this new system she hopes to prove effective come September 12th.
