CONCEPCION VS FRANCISCO MOVED TO SEPT. 6

The anticipated match-up between former WBA superfly interim champ Rafael "El Torito" Concepcion of Panama and Philippine prospect Drian Francisco has been moved to September 6 at the Cuneta Astrodome, according to promoter Elmer Anuran.

The bout was supposed to take place on July 26, but the current AH1N1 scare has prompted organizers to move back the playdate around such time that the health issue will have been resolved.

"We just take into account the safety of all spectators and delegates. We expect that everything will get back to normal by September. I know Filipinos are waiting for this fight, and we will try to give the best on Sept. 6," said Anuran.

Concepcion versus Francisco, dubbed "Banal na Paghihigante" will be for the vacant WBA International superflyweight title.

Concepcion will be making his first trip to the Philippines since his earth-shaking upset win over AJ "Bazooka" Banal last year for the interim WBA superflyweight crown.

"Francisco is well prepared and this will be a real revenge for the nation," added Anuran, who also added that the bout will be aired live by one of the local channels.

Asked if he will be ready for the battle-tested Concepcion, the 26-year-old Francisco just let out a smile and stated: "This is going to be for all Filipinos."
