Young lightweight prospect Jason Pagara of the ALA stable retained his Philippine title by winning over JR Sollano via split decision at Plaza Lapazan in Cagayan de Oro City Saturday night.
Pagara had his hands full in his last two fights after winning impressively his previous two outings against foreign opponents. In May last year, Pagara stopped Heri Andriyanto of Indonesia in the 3rd round and in August he disposed Kongdej Sithtrajtrakan of Thailand in the 4th round with both fights happening at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City. In October last year, Pagara won the Philippine lightweight title via unanimous decision over local boy Arnel Porras and successfully defended it against JR Sollano in a very close contest last Saturday.
Pagara, 16, has now improved his record to 17-1-0 with 9 KOs. Sollano went down to 14-10-0 (10KOs).
