Cebu City -- The idyllic and pristine town of Alcoy which lies some 90 km at Cebu's southeastern strip and famous for its white beaches and rear birds, will be uncharacteristically disturbed when a boxing extravaganza explodes tonight headlined by undefeated Jhonreil Casimiro of Omega Boxing Club who will go up against Rodel Quilaton of Manila for the vacant PBF Flyweight Championship.
The crowd-pleasing Federico Catubay, who was coming off from an impressive win against Narindech Sakchatree of Thailand last July 27 in Zamboanga City, will trade leathers with Aljun Salugaol of Borbon, Cebu for the night's main supporting bout.
The 'Showdown in Alcoy' has been organized through the initiative of Alcoy mayor Nick de los Santos in partnership with SGG Sports Promotions and Omega Boxing Club. The show starts at 7:00 p.m. and is free to the public.
Also seeing action in the undercard is Korea's Jonghwa Lee who will go up against Ryan Illustrisimo of Chao Sy Stable of Cebu.
Other bouts feature Jerry Pahal vs Christopher Pol; Jason Canoy vs Gerpol Valero and Jeongwoon Choi of Korea against Ranilo Espina.
The boxers had their official weighin yesterday morning under the supervision of GAB-Cebu at the IPI Gym in Mandaue City where all had made weights and ready to rumble.
