Well respected boxing patron Tony Aldeguer says he could ?feel the pain of the fans? after AJ ?Bazooka? Banal lost in his WBA super flyweight interim championship to Panama?s Rafael ?El Torito? Concepcion last July 26 at the Cebu Coliseum.
In a telephone conversation with www.insidesports.ph, Aldeguer made it clear that ?this is not ALA?s, these are Filipino boxers and we will listen to them and we have analyzed what went wrong."
Aldeguer conceded that ?our biggest problem sometimes is that when our boxers spar they always engage in combative sparring? which takes so much out of the fighters who effectively leave the fight in the gym.
The boxing patron said he was proud of the fact that when it comes to skills training ?we have developed fantastic boxers? but conceded that sometimes "we over-spar the boys? and they are many times beaten up too much.
At the same time Aldeguer said he would love to see Filipinos train Filipinos but was open to ?sending our boxers to the US to acquire technology and apply it here.?
He noted that the ALA Gym has done that many times in the past sending boxers like Z ?The Dream? Gorres, Rey ?Boom Boom? Bautista, Michael Domingo, Milan Milendo, Czar Amonsot and Banal among others to train at Freddie Roach?s Wild Card Gym.
Aldeguer said he plans not only to send his boxers to train in the US but also ?our trainers to be trained so they could get exposed and learn about the conditioning methods from the experts.?
