Donatelo Pinlac reigns supreme

Donatelo Pinlac dominated the recently concluded kiddies division (14 years old and below) of the 6th Kenz Gambit Chess Tournament held last Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Walter Mart, Paniqui, Tarlac.

The 13-year-old Pinlac, who hails from Malasiqui, Pangasinan and trains under the Maghari Chess Club, collected 6.5 points from six wins and one draw to capture the title, a cash prize of P2,000, and a medal.

Meanwhile, 13-year-old Xymon Stephen Concepcion from Camiling, Tarlac settled for runner-up honors after garnering 6.0 points to take home P1,000.

Louijy Jirelle Manahan, 14, from Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija finished in 3rd place with 5.5 points and received P500.

Karl Layno (14) and Jhomer Paras (14) also tallied 5.5 points each to end up in 4th and 5th places respectively.

In the Open category, 18-year-old Lucas Carlo from Quezon, Nueva Ecija claimed the crown after tallying 6.5 points in seven games, enough to secure the top prize of P3,000 and a medal.
