IIEE PSME Quezon City wins all matches in PCAP

The Quezon City (QC) team supported by the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines (IIEE) and the Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers (PSME), won its two matches in the Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP) against Mindoro Tamaraws 13-8 and OCM Cebu Niños 12-9 last April 25, 2026.

IIEE PSME QC was defaulted in board 1 and 5 in blitz against Mindoro Tamaraws but won all other boards with Electrical Engr. Randy Turreda defeating Leo Peñaredondo (his 7 win in a row for his debut conference), Electronic Engr. Jamie Hizon won over Jacquilene Ilao (had a good debut start with 4 wins in a row), Nixon Curioso beat Alvin Dela Cruz, Leonardo Navarro crushed NM Cesar Cunanan and AIM Francis Talaboc drubbed Engr. Jefferson Pascua (who is an IIEE member). In rapid, Hizon, Navarro and Talaboc repeated a win while NM Nicomedes Alisangco won over Carmina Ramas.

IIEE PSME QC got troubled early against OCM Cebu Niños falling 3-4 but got back in rapid with the big win of FM Jony Habla on board 5 versus NM Elwin Retanal. Other QC contributors are Mechanical/Electrical Engr. Joseph Galindo (2-0), Electrical Engr. Raynold Roces (2-0), Freddie Talaboc (2-0) and team owner Danilo Ponay who halve a point. Fall short in their opponents due to time trouble are Engr. Hizon and Electrical Engr. Ronald Donasco in board 2.
