A total of 128 chess players have officially registered for the 4th edition of the Touchmove Invitational Open Rapid Chess Tournament, scheduled for 9:00 A.M. on August 24 at The Atrium of SM City Mall in Roxas City.
The Touchmove chess tournament will consist of 128 participants. Each player will have a time limit of fifteen minutes, with an additional 3-second increment for each move. The tournament will utilize a seven-round Swiss system format.
Twenty-eight titled chess players are set to participate in this one-day chess showdown at the Seafood Capital of the Philippines.
Four Philippine Grandmasters (GMs) are among the participants: GM Rogelio "Joey" Antonio Jr., GM Darwin Laylo, GM John Paul Gomez, and GM Daniel Quizon.
Six Filipino International Masters (IMs) are also expected to join, adding to the competition among the country's brightest chess minds.
Additionally, 5 FIDE Masters (FMs) will compete in this prestigious tournament.
Eight National Masters (NMs) from various regions of the Philippines are preparing to showcase their skills.
A Woman National Master from Aklan will also participate in the event.
Furthermore, one Arena Master, 2 Arena FIDE Masters, and one Arena Candidate Master will be part of the tournament.
The 100 rated and aspiring chess players from the countryside are anticipated to create excitement on August 24.
