The Philippine Blu Girls delivered an emphatic performance at the WBSC Women’s Softball Asia Cup 2025, blanking South Korea, 7-0, in Xi’an, China, on Tuesday. The squad came out firing early, plating three runs in the first inning before sealing the victory with a four-run explosion in the fifth. The win underscored the Filipinas’ determination to make a strong run in the continental tournament.
The official scorecard reflected the Philippines’ dominance, with Korea held scoreless across all frames despite managing three hits and committing one error. The Blu Girls, meanwhile, tallied seven runs on six hits, showcasing both solid hitting and airtight defense.
Later in the afternoon, the Blu Girls faced powerhouse Japan and fought valiantly despite falling short, 1-9. The Filipinas showed grit and flashes of brilliance but were ultimately subdued by Japan’s 16-hit offensive barrage.
ASAPHIL President and Cebuana Lhuillier CEO Jean Henri Lhuillier expressed his continued support for the team. “I am extremely proud of our Blu Girls’ performance, especially their impressive win against South Korea. Even in the face of a tough loss to Japan, the team showed heart and resilience. We stand behind them all the way as they continue to fight for our country.”
The Philippines will next battle India at 11 a.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, as they look to build on their momentum and strengthen their campaign in the tournament.-Marlon Bernardino-
