MANILA---John Ranel Morazo of Paniqui, Tarlac aims to win his second Over The Board title when the first Paniqui Tarlac Chess Tournament unwraps on March 20 at the Poblacion Norte Covered Court in Paniqui, Tarlac.
Morazo, a former Far Eastern University Chess Team mainstay has ruled the 2022 The First Alert Level 2 Non-Master Open Chess Tournament last Feb. 27 held at the Barangay Caturay in Gerona, Tarlac.
Also seeing action are Edwin Cortez, Alanice Nicole Miranda, Joseph Apelacio,Clyde Arellano, Alfred Miranda Jr., Edwin Apelacio and Vince Arellano.
The stagings of the tournament is a brainchild of the Paniqui Chess Club under its president Fide National Arbiter Alfred Miranda.
The champion in the seven-round Swiss System tournament with time control of twenty minutes (20) for each player for the entire game will receive P5,000 .
The next four placers will pocket P3,000, P1,000 , P500 and P500, respectively.
Special prizes for the Top Paniqui, Kiddies, Highschool, Ladies and Senior will receive P300 each.
A registration fee of P200. It is open to all ages, non-master players, non-rated, male or female.
