Indonesia's number one boxer Tibo Monabesa (20-1-2) is back in the ring on Wednesday April 14th in Jakarta.
Monabesa will take on Toto Landero (11-4-2) of the Philippines. They will vie for the vacant WBC International Light Flyweight title.
Monabesa is currently ranked 6th by the WBC. The southpaw stylist hopes that a win over the capable Landero (ranked 23rd) will take him closer to a shot at the WBC World Championship currently held by Japanese Kenshiro Teraji.
Monabesa last fought in July 2019 taking a unanimous decision over Omari Kimweri in the biggest win of his career. Just as he was to return to the ring the Covid-19 pandemic hit and has kept him on the sidelines ever since.
Landero is also coming off a long break. His last fight was a win over Joel Lino in September 2019.
The highlight of the undercard is a bout between the undefeated power puncher Hebi Marapu (15-0) and the experienced Hero Tito (27-15).
The event is promoted by Armin Tan.
