World flyweight champion Nonito Donaire is slated to arrive in the country tomorrow from San Francisco upon the invitation of Solar Sports, which aired his fight against Luis Maldonado last December 2 in Connecticut.
While in the Philippines, Donaire is scheduled to do some television appearances, and pay a courtesy call on President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
Donaire will be accompanied by his mother and girlfriend Rachel "Knockout Queen" Marcial, an international taekwondo campaigner based in San Mateo, California.
Nonito Donaire Sr, the trainer-father credited for his son's ring success, will be left behind in California to continue training his older son Glenn who is also preparing for a scheduled fight against Tirso Morales on December 20 in Las Vegas.
Also part of Donaire's schedule is a short trip to Cebu, where he plans to thank the ALA Gym and its fighters for the support during his month-long training, as well as some supporters including fans and sports personalities.
Donaire will also visit his ailing grandfather in Talibon, Bohol, whom he considers a great inspiration and the reason why boxing was instilled in him as a young boy.
