WBF president Mick Croucher says Filipino Danilo Lerio's fight against undefeated Davey Browne in Ingleburn, Sydney, "could be the fight of the year in Australia." Croucher informed Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today that the choice would be announced shortly.
Lerio lost a ten round unanimous decision in a battle for the vacant WBF International super bantamweight title to the talented Browne who reportedly stands 5?11 ?? and now has a record of 10-0-1 with 3 knockouts. Lerio who is listed as a super flyweight obviously moved up in weight to fight Browne who is himself listed as a featherweight. Lerio dropped to 5-5 with 2 knockouts.
Browne was coming off a unanimous eight round unanimous decision over Robert Oyan last November 17 while Lerio lost by a ninth round TKO in his last bout against Richard Olisa.
