The oftentimes postponed IBF mini-fly title fight between defending champion Ulises Solis of Mexico and Bert Batawang of the Philippines, last scheduled on Dec. 8 in Guadalajara, Mexico, has been moved anew, this time on Dec. 15, 2007 in the same venue.
This has developed as the promoters of the fight had a hard time getting a television slot for the fight owing the mammoth Mayweather-Hatton showdown that is happening on the same date in Las Vegas.
"The promoters were forced to move the fight one week later because they were having difficulty getting a television slot for the fight because of the Mayweather-Hatton fight on Dec. 8," Gello-ani told PhilBoxing.com. "But I guess it's better that the fight has been moved a week later so people could just concentrate on one event at a time."
Solis has been given by the IBF until Jan. 25, 2008 to defend his title against the mandatory challenger, Bert Batawang.
Meanwhile, Bert Batawang and his trainer Jeremiah Quijano had just been re-issued their US visas and they are in the process of getting their Mexican visas at the Mexican Embassy in Manila.
Team Batawang is now scheduled to leave for Mexico via Los Angeles on Dec. 10.
