Gav Hornery & Chris Brackin ready to make their debuts.

TWO NEW FACES WILL STEP INTO THE RING ON JULY 22 FOR THE FIRST TIME AS PROFESSIONALS. Gavan Hornery and Chris Brackin have both recently made the decision to turn pro. Both young men are no strangers to the boxing game. Both had excellent amateur careers netting State and National honours and have almost grown up in Smithy's TGW Gym.

"Both Gavvy and Chris have been around the gym for years," Brendon Smith said.

"They've both grown from boys to men and have chosen to follow their dreams and fight professionally.

"They're both good fighters and most importantly they're both fine young men.

"They've grown up training beside some of our champion fighters and now it's their turn to step into the spotlight.

"Gavvy is from a famous boxing family and his father Berty is a former pro and is a huge part of our gym.

"Chris is also from one of the most famous boxing surnames in our region.

"They've both got the bloodlines to be successful."

Both men have signed with Smithy's TGW Promotions and will be trained out of Smithy's Gym by Brendon Smith and Corban Kanaveilomani.

Hornery will face renowned Warwick hard man Kyle Teer.

"This is a very proud moment for me signing my contract to become a professional boxer under the TGW & Smithy's Promotions banner," Hornery said.

"I've always dreamed of becoming a pro fighter and now I have my chance.

"I've been lucky enough to grow up around the sport and I hope that's holds me in good stead for my career.

"A big thanks to my family for supporting me especially dad who is beside me in the gym everyday as well as Brendon Smith and Corban Kanoveilomani - I'm in good hands.

"I'm really looking forward to July 22 and hope I can make a winning debut against Kyle Teer."

Brackin who hails originally from Stanthorpe is another who has grown up around the sport. The Brackin name is famous particularly across the Southern Downs. Chris forged a name for himself in the amateur ranks as an all action crowd pleasing fighter.

"I'm really thankful for the opportunities I received in the amateurs but now it's time to step up to the pro ranks," Brackin said.

"It will be a dream come true for me come July 22.

"I couldn't ask for a better stage to make my debut so a big thanks to my manager Brendon Smith as well as Corban Kanoveilomani for all the time and effort they have put into me.

"I'm working really hard to make sure I'm in the best possible shape I can be.

"To work alongside the calibre of fighters I train with on a daily basis is amazing and the sparring is first class.

"I'll be giving it my all on July 22 and I hope it's good enough to see my hand raised victorious."
