TAGUIG CITY,METRO MANILA-Jerwin Ancajas of the Philippines is the new IBF super flyweight world champion. Ancajas took the belt from McJoe Arroyo of Puerto Rico by unanimous verdict after twelve hard fought rounds.
The early rounds were a chess match but Ancajas dominated the second half of the fight, when he hurt Arroyo in the sixth with a hard left. Arroyo was on the back foot. Anacajas blasted Arroyo through the ropes with a hard volley a couple of rounds later. The crowd went into a frenzy.
But Arroyo was a s tough as they come and managed to hang on. He looked spent and ripe for the taking was hurt by body shots.
Arroyo tried a last ditch stand in the last two rounds but it was too little too late.
