AMERICAN REFEREE AND 3 JUDGES TO OFFICIATE IN LOPEZ-TACONING WBC LT. FLYWEIGHT TITLE FIGHT

It will be an all-American roster of officials when mandatory challenger Jonathan Taconing, the Filipino southpaw goes after the World Boxing Council light flyweight champion Ganigan Lopez in Mexico City tomorrow Manila Time.

Liza Elorde, wife of manager/promoter Johnny Elorde informed The Standard that the referee will be Thomas Taylor while the three judges will be Max De Luca, Alan Krebs of Washington and Alfredo Gallardo of Illinois.

Taylor refereed the WBC world super flyweight title fight between Carlos Cuadras and Filipino Richie Mepranum from Sarangani province in which Mepranum retired in the 8th round in Sinaloa, Mexico on April 23 this year.

De Luca is a popular American judge from the state of California.

He is the grandson of of Dr. Mike De Luca who was an amateur boxer in college and a ringside physician for more than 30 years.

Max De Luca was named ?Judge of the Year? by the WBC in 2010.

He also portrayed referee Harry Kessler in the Muhamad Ali-Ernie Terrell heavyweight championship fight in the Ali movie and worled the first three seasons of the ?Contender? television series.

Alan Krebs has mostly officiated in four and six round bouts with his only ten round bout on June 11 between Virgil Green and Jonathan Chicas at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, Washington last June 11 which welterweight Chicas won via a unanimous decision.

Gallardo too has officiated in mostly 4, 6 and 8 round bouts and on June 18 this year was a judge when Carlos Abreu faced Alex Martin in what resulted in a split decision in favor of Martin at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago.
