Californian Jon Schorle has been appointed as third man on the ring when Filipino Rey 'Boom Boom' Bautista crosses paths with WBO superbantam king Daniel Ponce De Leon in the main event of the August 11 World Cup of Boxing at the Arco Arena in Sacramento, California.
Schorle had refereed the Floyd Mayweather Jr-Jesus Chavez junior lightweight showdown in 2001.
If the fight goes to the scorecards, set to render judgement are Californians Steve English and Max De Luca, as well as New Jersey's John Stewart.
Bautista versus De Leon is set for 12 rounds, and will topbill the Philippines versus Mexico boxing extravaganza promoted by Golden Boy Promotions and broadcast live by HBO Boxing After Dark.
The co-feature will pit WBO bantam champion Jhonny Gonzales defending his title against Gerry Penalosa.
Five other Filipino fighters go up against Mexican warriors in a card which will be aired in the Philippines by television giant ABS-CBN.
