Just a few hours ago, Gerry Penalosa went toe-to-toe in a heated sparring session with Rey 'Boom Boom' Bautista for four rounds at the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles.
"Bugbugan sila ni Boom Boom. Ang ganda ng galaw ng dalawang boksingero natin. Ang daming nanuod," (They were beating up each other. Both fighters moved so well) said a source who witnessed the sparring sessions.
Penalosa also did three rounds against Mexican Alejandro Perez, a pure slugger.
"Boom Boom is about 85 percent in his conditioning. He's moving really very well. And Gerry is also putting together a lot of punches," said the source, who said that trainer Eric Brown helped facilitate the sessions along with Filipino trainers Edmund Villamor and Jeremiah Quijano.
ALA Gym chief trainer Edito 'Ala' Villamor is currently in Las Vegas to work the corner of Czar Amonsot when he takes on the unbeaten Michael Katsidis this Saturday (Sunday in the Philippines).
