PETALCORIN READY FOR TITLE DEFENSE IN CHINA

Randy Petalcorin (22W-1L-1D,17KO's) is in the final stages of his training for the first defense of his WBA interim world light flyweight title against Ma Yi Ming of China at the Capital Gym in Beijing on April 24.

The 23 year old Petalcorin fights out of Gen. Santos City, Philippines and scored his biggest career win in Shanghai, China last year when he stopped Walter Tello of Panama in seven rounds at the Mercedes Benz Arena.

Boxing promoter and manager Jim Claude Manangquil informed philboxing that Petalcorin has already sparred a total of 110 rounds. He will be tapering his sparring to two more four round sessions on Wednesday and Friday before leaving for China on Monday April 20.

The 34 year old Ma (12-5,7KO's) is riding on a nine fight winning streak which includes Filipinos Mating Kilakil and Albert Alcoy. His last win was a ten round unanimous verdict over Indonesian Tommy Seran. That fight held last December was for the WBO Asia Pacific light flyweight title.
