NBA Finals - LeBron's 35 points evens series at 1-1 By Adeline Deladisma PhilBoxing.com Tue, 10 Jun 2014 SAN ANTONIO -- After hosting a concert on Friday night and a double overtime WNBA game on Saturday night as the test run, the AC was up and running for Game 2 of the NBA Finals. It was noticeably cooler in the AT&T Center Sunday night, but the action remained heated. In the aftermath of "CrampGate," LeBron James led the Miami Heat to a close victory over the San Antonio Spurs, 98-96. The Spurs started out of the gate quickly jumping out to a 7-2 lead. Tim Duncan had 9 points on 4 for 4 shooting in the first six minutes of the game. The Heat tied it at 15 with 4:15 remaining in first quarter on a dunk by LeBron James, his first points of the game. After being down by as many as 11, the Heat kept at it and knotted the score at 43 at the half. The stats at the midway point of the game were nearly even with the Heat shooting 45.9 percent from the field with 10 turnovers to the Spurs' 42.9 percent and 9 turnovers. The score remained close in the third quarter and the San Antonio faithful were treated to a close finish. The Spurs had a balanced effort and were led by their own big three Parker, Ginobili and Duncan, who each scored 21, 19, and 18 points respectively. But it was not enough to win the game. Leading 87-85, the Spurs missed four crucial free throws after a Flagrant one was called on Chalmers with 6:43 left in the fourth quarter. James finished with 35 points and 10 rebounds and looked all the part of a leader after watching his team go down from the bench in the final minutes of Game 1. He stepped up with his own 8 point run in the span of a minute in the middle of the third quarter that kept his team from falling further into a then 6 point deficit. He reeled off another 5 points after the Spurs' missed free throws in the fourth. And with just 1:18 remaining, ever the willing passer, James dished the ball to Bosh for a three pointer that gave the Heat the lead for good. How does he account for this, this ability to know just when his team needs him most? After the game he commented, "However the flow of the game is going, I just try to impose my will in some kind of way, either scoring or rebounding or assisting or defending. Put myself and my teammates in a position to succeed." WIth that success, James and his mates take the series back home to Miami for Game 3, which will be on Tuesday night at the AmericanAirines Arena.
