PAGARA BROTHERS TO FACE INDONESIANS IN MAASIN PRIDE V ON APRIL 11

PhilBoxing.com

The country's hottest boxing brothers Jason "El Ni?o" and "Prince" Albert Pagara will face tough Indonesian foes on Friday, April 11 at the Maasin City Gymnasium. ALA Boxing Promotions and the Maasin City Government combined resources to present a rare professional boxing card, the first ever fight of the Pagara siblings together at their home city of Maasin, Southern Leyte.

Jason will face Rusmin Kie Raha in the 140-lb main event for 10 rounds. While Albert will fight Skak "Checkmate" Max in the 122-lb weight category also for 10 rounds in the co-main event. The promotion is billed "Maasin Pride V: Pagara Brothers versus Indonsia."

"It will serve as a tune-up bout for Jason as he is slated to fight in Duabi in June," said ALA Promotions CEO Michael Aldeguer. "Albert is going to fight for a regional title after this fight."

The Indonesian Boxing Association lightweight champion, Raha had 12 wins, 4 losses, and 2 draws with 2 KO wins and became champion when he defeated Yacob Ton by majority decision. He lost to Filipino Jay Solmiano for the vacant WBO Asia Pacific light-welterweight title by 2nd round knockout in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

Max incurred successive losses after turning pro, but later knocked all his opponents out in all his six succeeding wins. His latest fight was an eight-round unaninous decision loss to Patomsith Pathompothong of Thailand at the Liptapanlop Hall, Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.

The last fight of "El Ni?o" Pagara was the successful defense of his WBO international light welterweight belt with a very convincing unanimous decision win over Vladimir Baez of the Dominican Republic during the Pinoy Pride XXIII at the Araneta Coliseum on November 30 last year.

Jason (32-2, 19KOs) still holds the WBO International light-welterweight title and Albert (19-0, 13KOs) is still undefeated since his amateur days. Both were discovered by ALA while training in Cagayan de Oro City in Misamis Oriental under then Governor now City Mayor Oscar Moreno.

Brian Lobitania of Kitaotao, Bukidnon will slug it out with Boyce Sultan of Zamboanga del Norte for 8 rounds in 120-lb category. Elmo Traya of Tabuelan, Cebu will rumble with Rey de la Cruz of General Santos City for 6 rounds in the 135-lb division. Richard Barrios of Bais City will exchange blows with Lito Dante of Tagbilaran City for 6 rounds in the 105-lb division. Wanmah Waminal of San Carlos, Bukidnon will fight Dondon Amparado of General Santos City for 4 rounds in the 115-lb category.

Amateur bouts will also be held with Maasin City boxers facing ALA amateur boxers from Tagbilaran and Mandaue City.

Ticket prices are: VIP - P1,000, Ringside - P500, Lower Box - P100 and Upper Box - P50.
