IN A MOVE designed to fast-track the growth of boxing and find future world champions, Elmer Anuran?s Saved by the Bell Promotion in partnership with the provincial government of Camarines Sur headed by the country?s youngest Governor Miguel ??Migz?? Villafuerte will present the Bicol slugfest on March 29 at the Pili Gymnasium. To ensure that the expected jampacked crowd will not go home disappointed, Anuran, a respected sportsman-businessman, decided to pit comebacking Al Sabaupan, who hails from Sipocot in Camarines Sur, versus a wily Thai fighter. Sabaupan belongs to the stable of boxers under the Touch Gloves Boxing Gym of Anuran in Agoncillo, Batangas. The 5-foot-7 Sabaupan, dubbed as Captain A, has a 20-2-1, 15 knockouts, record. The well-built Sabaupan fought but lost twice in Mexico last year and is aiming to regain the respect of ring fans. Sabaupan will exchange punches with Rachamongkol Sor Pleonchit of Thailand in the main event.. The weigh-in will be held today. ??In behalf of SBB, I would like to thanks Governor Migz for supporting this event which is just the start of a series of boxing events in Camarines Sur,?? said Anuran. Villafuerte , who succeeded his father Luis Raymond, as governor in 2013, is also known for his love of sports, Camsur is a popular destination for watersports and the young Villafuerte hopes that boxing will add to the popularity of the province. Another Touch Gloves stalwart Roberto ??Calibre?? Gonzales will be tested by Ronald Postrano of the Arci Boxing Stable in Mandaluyong City while another action-packed bout is expected between Michael Dasmari?as of Johnny Molnis Boxing Stable (Valenzuela City) versus Zoren Pama of Elorde Boxing Gym (Taguig City). Other bouts pit Junar Adante (Hardstone Boxing Stable, Bangar, La Union) going up against Arjet Caballes (Marlon Caballes Stable, Makati City) and Joel Taduran of Tacy Macalos Boxing Stable testing the mettle of Jerome Aguinaldo of Elorde Boxing Stable.
