CONDES STOPS ALFANTE IN PARA?AQUE
PhilBoxing.com Mon, 17 Mar 2014

Former IBF minimumweight champion Florante Condes scored his second straight win after being away from the ring for one year with a seventh round knockout win against Cris Alfante in a fight held Saturday in Para?aque City.
Promoter Aljoe Jaro informed philboxing that Alfante had a early lead in the fight but Condes remained patient. In the third, Condes landed with his right jab and left straight and hurt Alfante. In the 4th, Alfante fought back and a clash of heads inflicted a cut on Condes' left eye. The fight was on the verge of being stopped as blood continued to flow from the cut after another head butt as ring physician Dr. Marius Sing reexamined the cut.
Jaro said that Condes wanted to continue and vowed to stop his foe in the 7th which he did with a straight left and referee Bruce McTavish signalled the end of the contest. Condes will go up the rankings with the IBF Pan Pacific regional belt in his hands.
The 33 year old Condes goes up to 27W-8L-1D, 23KO?s while Alfante drops to 10W-2L, 3KO?s.
Last January, Condes won by first round TKO against Charlie Cabilla. He had a brief reign as IBF champ in 2007 when he dethroned Muhamad Rachman by split decision but he lost also by split decision in his first defense to Raul Garcia of Mexico.
Jaro also stated they will target next IBO/WBA minumweight champ Hekkie Budler of South Africa, who beat Condes by decision in 2012 and IBF champ Katsunari Takayama of Japan.
