AMIT DISPLAYS NERVES OF STEEL TO CLAW BACK AND ENTER THE WOMEN'S WORLD 10-BALL FINALS

PhilBoxing.com

Amit.
Diminutive Rubilen Amit displayed nerves of steel to claw back from a 4-6 deficit against Chinese-Taipei?s Tsai Pei Chen to win 9-7 and enter the finals of the Women?s World 10-Ball Championships for the second time after having won the inaugural tournament in Manila in 2010.

Despite six dry breaks and miscues early in the match, Amit steadied herself down the stretch as Tsai committed some errors with the Filipina capping her miraculous run with a dramatic 4-10 combination to seal the win and send the large crowd at the Resorts World Hotel into cheers.

Amit tied the count at 6-6 after Tsai scratched when going for the 5-ball, coolly sinking the 9 and 10 balls.

A superb shot with the jump cue by Tsai enabled the Chinese-Taipei lass to pocket the 9 ball and then the 10 to once again move in front 7-6 but that?s as far as she got.

She missed a comparatively easy shot on the 6-ball while aiming for the corner pocket enabling Amit to clean up the table and tie the score once again at 7-all.

Errors began to creep into the game of Tsai while in contrast the veteran Amit appeared to handle the pressure much better. Another error by Tsai on the 6-ball and Amit, who was at the table had some rather tough angles to maneuver but somehow found the touch to grab the lead for the first time in the match at 8-7.

Another error by the Chinese-Taipei girl who was buckling under pressure helped Amit set herself up for an absolutely dramatic ending as she showed exquisite timing and feel to sink the 10-ball off a 4-10 combination to guarantee herself at least $10,000 if not more should she beat the winner of the second semi final between another former champion Kelly Fisher and China?s Han Yu.

The matches were telecast on ABS-CBN Studio 23.
