PHILIPPINE DAVIS CUP STAR TREAT HUEY AND BRIT DOMINIC INGLOT ADVANCE TO US OPEN DOUBLES ROUND OF 16

Philippine Davis Cup star Treat Huey and British teammate Dominic Inglot have advanced to the round of 16 in the U.S. Open Championships Men?s Doubles in Flushing Meadows after what the International Tennis School in New York reported was a solid straight sets victory over Italy?s Daniele Bracciali and Czech Lukas Dlouhy 6-3 6-3 in the second round.
It said that playing on Court No.4 at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, the Filipino-British pair both served effectively winning 88 percent of their first serves while tossing up seven aces. They broke their opponents three times while saving all three break points they faced on their serves in the 52 minute match.
In the first round, Huey and Inglot, former teammates at the University of Virginia who are seeded No. 16 squeaked past the Austrian pair of Julian Knowle and Jurgen Melzer, last week?s Winston-Salem Open singles winner, 6-2 6-7(4) 7-6(5).
Huey and Inglot will now face either No.3 seeded Spanish team of Marc Lopez and Marcel Granollers or Australian Davis Cuppers Chris Guccione and Bernard Tomic for a place in the quarter-finals.
Huey will lead the Philippine Davis Cup team consisting of Ruben Gonzales, Johnny Arcilla, and Francis Alcantara against New Zealand in the Group II Asia-Oceana finals on September 13 - 15 to be played at picturesque Plantation Bay in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.
