Summer Heat Showdown in Halifax - Marc "Gwapo" Pagcaliwangan vs David Kanalas

PhilBoxing.com

Marc ?Gwapo? Pagcaliwangan returns to the ring today again in Halifax, Nova Scotia against David Kanalas for this sixth fight since his professional debut last September. Pagcaliwangan heads into this fight with a perfect record of 5 wins and 5 TKO?s and is seeking to chalk up his sixth win against Kanalas who has 13 wins and 7 losses.

The official weight for the 23 year old Filipino-Canadian Marc ?Gwapo? Pagcaliwangan was 123.2 lbs while his 21 year old opponent from Hungary David Kanalas weighed in at an even 124 lbs. The fight contract is for 122 lbs however due to the late addition of this fight that was finalized last Monday, both fighters agree to square it off in the ring with the minimal weight difference.

The younger David Kanalas recently fought and won on August 9 in Slovakia, the 13 wins he has accumulated were all in Europe. Although he is 2 years younger than Pagcaliwangan, Kanalas has faced more competition which includes fights with against the likes of two Canadian boxers Tyson Cave and Sebastian Gauthier.

Since training in Montreal with his Coach Ian McKillop, Marc ?Gwapo? Pagcaliwangan has had the opportunity to evolve and close the gap with this fighting style, Pagcaliwangan has also demonstrated much more focus and patience in the ring. Pagcaliwangan is still a work in progress but is developing with a lot of potential, he is hungry to win and keep his record perfect at the expense of David Kanalas.

Marc Pagcaliwangan vs. David Kanalas was a late addition as of last Monday when the fight was finalized by the Nova Scotia Boxing Commission. The fight card ?Summer Heat? is promoted by Robert Cave of Caveman Promotions which will be taking place today at Seaview Park today located underneath the MacKay Bridge that joins the twin cities of Halifax and Darthmouth. ?Summer Heat? is a great addition to the Africville Annual Picnic and Festivities happening in Halifax this weekend.

There are 3 title fights scheduled for ?Summer Heat.? Robert Cave?s son, multiple title holder Tyson Cave who fought AJ Banal in Cebu a few years ago, is the headliner for the card who faces Gabor Molinar for the CPBC International Belt. Steven Wilcox from Ontario will face Marcel Maillet for the the CPBC Canadian Title. There is a $1000.00 draw prize for those in attendance who has purchased a ticket to ?Summer Heat.?

The Filipino Association of Nova Scotia (FANS) based out of the coastal Maritime City of Halifax has been notified about the arrival and big fight taking place for their fellow Filipino Canadian Marc ?Gwapo? Pagcaliwangan. Once again, Pagcaliwangan will make history on behalf of Filipinos around the globe, he maybe the first Filipino Boxer to ever fight in the Canadian East Coast.
