MORENO 117, URINA 116 FOR WBA BANTAMWEIGHT WORLD TITLE IN PANAMA

PhilBoxing.com

WBA Bantamweight Super Champion Anselmo "Chemito" Moreno (33-2-1, 12 KOs) of Panama (L) scaled-in at 117 lbs while hard-hitting Colombian challenger William Urina (24-2, 20 KOs) weighed-in at 116 lbs ahead of their world title clash tomorrow at the at the plush Megapolis Convention of the Hard Rock Hotel Friday afternoon in Panama City, Panama.

Both warriors looked confident, focused and in excellent shape for their fight in which the slightest mistake could mean the difference between victory and defeat. With 20 KOs in 24 victories, the hard-swinging Colombian could end the long reign of the slick Moreno, who last May completed 5 years as WBA bantamweight world champion.

This time, Moreno will be making the 12th defense of the WBA bantamweight crown he won by defeating former Ukrainian powerhouse Volodymyr Sydorenko in 2008 in D?sseldorf, Germany.

In the special attraction, the beautiful WBA Female Featherweight world champion Ogleydis "La Ni?a" Su?rez (18-2-1, 8 KOs) of Venezuela, wearing a black bikini, weighed-in at 126 lbs, while experienced tough Colombian Liliana Palmera (21-10-3, 15 KOs) tipped the scales at 123.75 for their 10-rounder world title rumble.

In another world title fight, Colombian Oscar Escand?n (22-0, 15 KOs) made 121 lbs for his war of leather against Venezuelan former WBA world champion champion Neomar Cerme?o (21-5-1, 13 KOs) for the vacant WBA interim super bantamweight crown.

During the weigh-in the undefeated Colombian slugger kissed the WBA belt held by promoter Lewkowicz and promised that after the fight it will be his. That remains to be seen as Cerme?o is an experienced, complicated boxer who could be a tough nut to crack.

In a non-title war, veteran former 2-division world champion Roberto "La Ara?a" V?squez of Panama registered 120 lbs against 118 lbs weighted-in by his dangerous Colombian rival Walberto Ramos.

Present at the weigh-in ceremony were promoter Ricardo Rizzo of Nicaragua, WBA official Hector Afu, Panama Boxing Commissioner Jose Oliver Gomez, veteran judge Dr. Ruben Garcia of Mexico, supervisor Jose Emilio Graglia of Argentina and Roberto Ramirez Sr. of Puerto Rico.

Ringside Ticket cost $ 300 (U.S. Dollars), General Admission is $ 100 (U.S. Dollars) - Tickets are on sale at Ticket Plus.

The triple-world title card in Panama is a production of Sampson Lewkowicz in association with the Hard Rock Hotel Panama, broadcast live in Panama on TV Max Channel 9 and throughout Latin American on TyC Sports.
