MAYWEATHER?S BEST WEAPONS ARE HIS LEGS

PhilBoxing.com

West Hills, CA:-After reviewing the tape and the still photos of last Saturday?s ?big fight? at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, with a group of friends who came and stayed late last night at my house, we came to the conclusion that Floyd Mayweather?s Jr., best weapons were his feet.

The victory however is still well-deserved given the fact that Robert Guerrero was not able to back up his boast.

At age 36 and long lay-off capped by a short jail term, Floyd Jr appears to have a diminished defensive and offensive hand skills but his legs carried the day for him.

It was Floyd Jr.?s ?slipping and sliding? that made Robert Guerrero look really awful as a fighter.

Guerrero?s plan to bully Floyd and push him against the ropes or the corners did not fan out too well because Floyd Jr still has his feet.

Guerrero would try to push him to the corner but in a blink of an eye, Floyd Jr is gone and nowhere to be touched.

This is why we concluded that it was his legs that saved him and made him look really good.

Floyd Jr.?s hand skills were slightly different though.

Occasionally when he is cornered which incidentally was few and far in between because he moves so much, Guerrero can land with his left or right hand

When that happens, Floyd Jr.?s next move would be to clinch and force referee Robert Byrd to break them apart thus saving Floyd? Jr from further damage.

All of these moves are a credit to the senior Mayweather who was back in the corner of his son.

The old man is a defensive minded trainer. Just like some military folks, he believes that defense is the best offensive weapon.

Senior brought back the ?hit and don?t get hit and run if you must? system.

This system involves using the feet and the ring to keep away from the opponent. It also features an occasional right jab that seems to come from nowhere.

Mayweather Sr.?s is good for his son but awful for the fans who paid money to see an exciting fight similar what Abner Mares and Daniel Ponce de Leon gave the paying fans.

It seems however, the Mayweathers could care less.

They have five more fights on contract with ShowTime and if they don?t fight the way they did last Saturday evening, with Floyd?s vanishing hand skills they may not have enough to complete the contract.

What about the paying fans?

It does not really matter if Floyd Jr., continues to run and fight the same way he did last Saturday.

The Mayweathers know that regardless of how he fights, they will still spend their money and complain about a boring fight while TMT continues to rake in the dollars.

They are aware that there are three sets of fans out there that would always shell out the cash.

The ?pure? Mayweather fans which are few and far in between, the fans of who ever is the opponent will be and lastly (like my friends who drove to Vegas to see the fight),

those would love to see Mayweather lose.

So, why would Floyd Jr risk being hurt like he did during the Cotto fight by engaging with is opponent, huh?
