National Chess Championships elims begin May 4

SOME of the country?s top non-master chess players will compete in the elimination round of the 2013 National Chess Championships for Men's and Women's on May 4 to 8 at the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) canteen in Vito Cruz, Manila.
The tournament is open to all Filipino chess players who must be members in good standing of the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP).

The 9-round Swiss System competition is organized by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) headed by its Chairman/President Prospero "Butch" Pichay Jr., Secretary-General Abraham "Bambol" Tolentino Jr., and Executive Director GM Jayson Gonzales in cooperation with the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and Philippine Olympic Committee (POC).

The tournament shall be divided into following divisions:
Men?s Division ? male players with NCFP Rating of 2199 AND BELOW as of April 1, 2013 and unrated.

Women?s Division ? female players with NCFP Rating of 1999 AND BELOW as of April 1, 2013 and unrated.

The top THIRTY (30) players from the Men?s Division shall advance to the semifinal round together with the seeded titled players (International Masters, FIDE Masters, National Masters) and players with NCFP Rating of 2200 AND ABOVE as of April 1, 2013.

The top TWENTY (20) players from the Women?s Division shall advance to the semifinal round together with the seeded titled players (Woman International Masters, Woman FIDE Masters, Woman National Masters) and players with NCFP Rating of 2000 AND ABOVE as of April 1, 2013.

The Men's Division offers PhP7,000.00 to the champion; PhP4,000.00 to second; PhP3,000.00 to third; PhP2,000.00 to fourth; PhP1,500.00 to fifth; PhP1,000.00 to sixth; PhP750.00 to seventh; PhP500.00 each to 8th to 10th placer and PhP300.00 each to 11th to 15th placer.

At stake in the Women's Division are PhP5,000.00 to the champion; PhP3,000.00 to second; PhP2,000.00 to third; PhP1,500.00 to fourth; PhP1,000.00 to fifth; PhP750.00 to sixth; PhP500.00 to seventh; PhP300.00 each to 8th to 10th placer.

Registration fee is PhP300 for NCFP members. (Additional PhP300 for non-NCFP member.)
